Six amazing years! Jeff and I could have taken a vacation.
We could have gone out to dinner & a movie. We could have gone to a winery or brewery.
But we went in a completely different direction.
We decided that for this year, we'd bring two girls that needed a good home into our lives. Everyone, we'd like you to meet Eba (Ee-baa) and Lia (Lee-yah).

This is Lia.

And this is Eba.

We have wanted to get a dog ever since moving into our home, but there always seemed to be other priorities. With these two little girls, everything fell into place as if it were meant to be. For as much as I've considered the breed of dog we'd get, I didn't think we'd end up with a beagle . . . and now we have two!

A few non-study dogs were put up for adoption from work. These girls were given a health checkup, spayed, and vaccinated prior to coming home with us. All we had to do was put some Frontline on them to protect them from the ticks & fleas.

Eba turned one year old back in February. Lia will be one year old this June.
(This is Eba below)

We are keeping them in the garage for now until they are house broken . . . we've got a lot of training ahead of us. They've never had collars or leashes used on them before either. We bought a play pen (below) so they'd grow comfortable with the great outdoors.

When we did try to walk them, there were so many things going on they had a hard time focusing.

We bought a couple of dog training books and will be using operant conditioning (mostly positive reinforcement) and clicker training. Jeff is "charging the clicker" (one exercise) in the photo below. We just need them to know that the clicker sound equals treats. So far they'll sit for us but only when we have their full attention. There are numerous distractions, as they have had very little experience with the outdoors. Videos coming soon!

After a long day of training, walking, and the stresses of a new life, it's time to cuddle up with a warm body for some sleep.

Wish us luck with our two well behaved dogs!
